- Wakin signs
on with Rock Records for another 3 years,
accepting only 1 Yuan as payment!
In a generous gesture to help Rock
through some financial difficulties,
Wakin has apparently waived the
customary signing bonus (a certain
percentage of anticipated royalties that
is paid to the artist up front) and
accepted only 1 Yuan instead. The
Yuan, the unit of currency in China, is
a symbolic
payment only.
Wakin has
been with Taiwan's Rock Records
throughout his recording career,
beginning 19 years ago.

Contest up in the Ni Men section
of Wakin.com--"Li

As you may or may not know, Li Chi is the very accomplished
violinist in Wakin's Easy Band.
The music that comes from his famous
blue violin
is so beautiful it will
seriously make you cry! To participate in the contest,
click on the link above (Li Chi).
The best way to get there is to go into
the site map, and click on the blinking
Kanji (Chinese) characters underneath the
"Guestbook." From there, choose
the Kanji on top, and then click the
blue Kanji to get to the pictures and
entry form. An
English version
of the form has once again
graciously been made available by the

to post witty, funny captions to the
series of pictures. Be sure to
give it some thought--the prize once
again is an
ultra-cool Stars Ferry jacket!
Good luck to everyone!

In related news,
this May the beautiful and talented Taiwanese singer
Leslie Li Du
held a concert at the EZ5 club in Taipei, the site of the
2004 Wakin World Party! Wakin and
Leslie have a long history of artistic collaboration, including teaming
up for many beautiful duets like, "New Kindness Era", "When Will I
Be Awakened?", "Irresistible" and in English, "Sometimes When We
Touch." Leslie has an ethereal, expressive and delicate vocal style
that compliments Wakin's voice very well. She remains a
favorite duet partner of this webmaster, as I am sure she is of many
other of Wakin's fans.
Her
new jazz album is due out this June! Congratulations,
Leslie!
-
