Wakin's Kitchen

First, a Bit of Background...

Wakin's Kitchen has five locations in Taipei, Taiwan and specializes in Cantonese cuisine.  Cantonese cuisine is widely recognized across the world as one of the greatest cooking styles on the planet, and justifiably so.  Dishes served in this style are noted for containing only the freshest of ingredients, and are as beautiful when served as they are delicious to eat. The palate of the Cantonese is also famously adventurous, which makes for a wide range of dishes featuring many unusual and exotic ingredients.  It is the combination of all of these things which makes Cantonese dining such an exciting and rewarding culinary experience.

During our recent visit to Taipei, we were fortunate enough to be able to patronize the primary location of Wakin's Kitchen and sample the menu.  There are a wide variety of dishes available, ranging from "Dim Sum" all the way up to the most elegant gourmet dishes.   Should your travel plans include a trip to Taipei, do NOT leave the city without having visited Wakin's Kitchen!  The food is absolutely AMAZING!!

Virtual Tour

Really want to visit the Kitchen, but can't squeeze a trip to Taiwan in right now?  Well unfortunately, I can't help you with a plane ticket.  But I can take you on a little virtual walk-through, and let you at least see the restaurant.  Ready?

The location we visited is one level up from the street.  As you ascend the flight of stairs, the wall is papered with advertisements for Wakin's Kitchen, which include many tempting and beautiful dishes.

Here's the front of the restaurant.  You can't tell from the photo because it is night time, but the far wall is made of windows that look out over the busy streets of Taipei, one story below. I am not completely sure, but I think that the elevated train also runs right by the restaurant, outside of those windows, right about eye level.

Many of the interior decorations look just like a Chinese restaurant here at home in the United States.
