Plot outline:
Based on the novel by Li Horn Shiau, Osmanthus Alley
is the tale of Ti Hung, a woman of impoverished
background who's life seems to be destined for
heartbreak. As Ti Hung's life story unfolds in all
its struggles, the theme of fate v. self-will is
explored. Throughout her life, Ti Hung fights against
what she believes is a pre-decided fate of loneliness,
determined to make her own life and find happiness.
But when she matures into old age and looks back on her
life with all its disappointments and tragedies, she
decides that her life has indeed fulfilled its fate.
