Plot outline: When Man Chi-Yeung (Wakin) leaves his tiny village to make a life for himself in Hong Kong, he asks his childhood sweetheart, Pui Yan (Sylvia Chang) to wait for his return. When circumstances of life and hardship force Pui Yan to marry another man, her heart remains ever with her old lover as she travels to England to care for her new husband's restaurant and daughter.  When her husband's suicide leads Pui Yan and her step-daughter, Yip Fan (Anita Yuen), to Hong Kong, she is reunited with Man Chi-Yeung, now a successful doctor.  But the reunion is painful, because again she has married another, this time a wealthy lawyer, Ko Chun (Winston Chao).  Crisis occurs for Pui Yan when Man Chi-Yeung and Yip Fan fall in love, and she must learn to live with the consequences of her own choices.
